A dedicated training course for medics operating in remote and extreme environments.

A specialist pathway for medics operating in extreme environments

For clinicians working in remote, cold and high-consequence environments, clinical capability is only one part of the equation. The ability to operate effectively in extreme cold – personally, technically and within a wider expedition system—is essential.

The Arctic Skills Course has been designed to meet that demand.

This programme offers a dedicated pathway for medics operating in remote and extreme environments, combining core expedition skills with applied cold-weather medicine. It is built to develop confidence, capability and sound decision-making in the conditions you are likely to encounter across winter and cold-region deployments.

Training FAQs

An Immersive, Field-Based Experience

This is not a theoretical course. It is a practical, field-based programme grounded in the realities of austere, sub-zero environments – where equipment behaves differently, resources are finite, and small errors can carry significant consequence.

You will develop robust personal systems for managing heat, movement, equipment and fatigue – recognising that your ability to function effectively underpins your clinical role.

Alongside this, the course explores how clinical care adapts in the cold: how presentations evolve, how interventions are modified, and how decisions are made when evacuation is delayed, uncertain or complex
