A non-stop, 43 mile race along the iconic Pennine Way.
The Montane Summer Spine Sprint North is a non-stop, 43 mile race along the Pennine Way from Brown Rigg to Kirk Yetholm with a time limit of 18 hours. This is a challenge that will give you a taste of what it takes to move on to the Challenger and full Spine races, whilst also experiencing the fearsome mountainous terrain of the Pennine Way. From appearances alone 18 hours sounds ample time to complete the distance, however, this challenging and technical section of the Pennine Way is a physically and psychologically demanding route that demands concentration, good physical fitness, resolve and respect. We expect you to travel with a degree of self-sufficiency and skill which sets this race apart from others.

This isn’t a beginner friendly race. We want you to be safe out there and experience of similar challenges will make you safer.
Firstly, you must be aged 21 years or over at the time of the race.
If you have completed a marathon or an ultra marathon, then this will qualify you for the race.
If you don’t meet these criteria, your experience can be drawn from other events. Adventure races, orienteering events or fell races are looked upon favourably. The more a challenge features mountainous terrain and elements of navigation the better.
