The Wrath is the new home of the Cape Wrath Ultra, reimagined in true Spine style: solo, self-sufficient, non-stop, brutal.
It's the progression of the dream that started fifteen years ago on the Pennine Way and if anything, it goes further. The Cape Wrath Trail is more remote, more raw and more demanding than anything we've created before.
This isn't a race for spectacle. It's for runners who want to test themselves against one of the last truly wild trails left in the UK - all backed by the same dedicated logistics team, army of volunteers, safety crew and medics who make The Spine possible every year.
"The Wrath reignites the pioneering nature of the Spine – more difficult, more self-sufficient, more remote, more raw."
Phil Hayday-Brown, Race Director| Date | Sunday 2 May 2027, 11:00 start |
| Route | Fort William, north along the full length of the Cape Wrath Trail |
| Race options | Wrath · Wrath Challenger South · Wrath Sprint South |
| Format | Continuous, self-sufficient, solo, Spine-style |
| Entry process | Expression of interest, followed by early pre-sale |
All three start in Fort William and follow the Cape Wrath Trail north. Tap a race for the detail.
The complete expedition, end to end — Fort William to the Cape Wrath lighthouse, with four full-support checkpoints and eight further welfare checkpoints along the way.
More than the Sprint, not the full Wrath — a serious step up for runners who want a big multi-day objective without the full expedition distance. One full-support checkpoint at Kinloch Hourn, plus two welfare checkpoints en route.
Shorter, but still a serious mountain and wilderness race — equivalent in positioning to the Spine Sprint, in more remote terrain. No full-support checkpoint before the finish, but two welfare checkpoints along the way.
Subject to final confirmation.
